Mediterranean Diet Protects Against Asthma and Allergies

According to some scientist this is due to the high antioxidant content.

The results of a recent study showed that the traditional Mediterranean diet, consisting largely of fruits, vegetables and nuts prevents or reduces the symptoms of asthma and allergies.

“In recent years, medicine has advanced a lot in terms of how important the food is for the occurrence of asthma and allergy, as well as the curing effect of some food to these diseases,” said Dr. Paul Kuhlman from the National Heart and Lung Institute in London, quoted by the specialized edition of Thorax.

During his research, the British scientist summarized the data of 690 children aged 7 to 18, from the Mediterranean and compared the results with the data from children in the UK suffering from asthma and allergies.

According to Dr. Kuhlman the results are sufficiently convincing to be concluded that foods rich in antioxidants protect against asthma and allergies.
