Acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicines are starting to get the international praise and attention it deserves. Acupuncture has put its big toe into the mainstream, but it is still misunderstood.
Traditional Chinese medicinal practices are built on the belief that energy (chi or qi) flows through the body along pathways called meridians. Illness comes when the energy becomes unbalanced or a meridian becomes blocked.
The meridians can be manipulated as to give specific benefits to the body. Each meridian is linked with a specific organ, serving as a roadway of energy and intention. They can be manipulated by activating pressure points. Acupuncturists use needles to pinpoint and relieve meridian pathways.
That is not the only way to activate and clear meridians. Massage and reiki are examples of other methods. You can rub pressure points with your bare hands. As you rub out the tension holding back energy, it flows to the affected organs.
One of these pressure points is known as 'Feng Fu' or the 'Wind Mansion'. Located at the top of the neck, near the base of the skull. Stimulating Feng Fu has many benefits such as: improved quality of sleep, managing the production of hormones, arthritis relief, decreasing pain from headaches, tooth aches and joint pain.
Instead of massage, you can use ice to revitalize the Feng Fu point. For this method you'll need: an ice cube, and a bandage or scarf. You can use a ice band as well. Either sit down or lay on your stomach and place the ice cube at the base of your skull or above your hairline. Secure it with the fabric or bandage. Wait for 20 minutes with the ice cube applied.
After 30 to 60 seconds the burn of the ice will subside. It will be replaced with a warm sensation. Do this twice a day. There will be an immediate release of endorphins which will make you feel great.
