Even if you frequently wash and take care of your hair, it can happen to quickly get dirty again. In the modern world, many people don’t have enough time to frequently wash their hair. Besides, constant contact with shampoos and chlorinated water is harmful to your hair.
Many girls are wondering what influences the contamination of hair and how often they should wash their hair. Let’s figure it out!
What is the main reason for fast hair contamination?
Sebaceous glands
The production of sebum on your head skin makes your hair look unfresh and dirty.
The excess production of sebum depends on a number of factors:
- age (young people’s bodies produce large quantities of sebum);
- sex (men’s skin is more prone to fat content);
- season (the skin becomes fattier in warm weather);
- hormonal background and diseases (he use of antibiotics, certain medicinal and hormonal drugs negatively affect the state of your hair);
- food (excessive consumption of fatty foods, carbohydrate-rich food items, and alcohol can lead to the increased fatness of hair);
- Hereditary predisposition to the fat content of the skin.
What should you do to prolong the freshness of your hair and how often should you wash your hair?
1. Choose the right shampoo and the frequency of washing your hair. Men should wash their hair every day or every other day. Women should wash their hair once in every 2–3 days or every day if necessary.
2. If you wash your hair often, you’d better give preference to less aggressive shampoos. Do not use a shampoo for fatty hair every day, as this can lead to overdrying of the scalp. This can negatively affect your hair and can cause irritation.
3. If you do not have the opportunity to wash your head often, but your hair is fatty, choose a shampoo that reduces the production of sebum (they are usually labeled as “seborrhealing”).
4. If your head is very fat before washing, you should use more shampoo and/or soap your head twice, leaving the foam on your hair for 1–2 minutes. For dry hair, a small amount of shampoo and a single short lathering is enough.
5. Even if you have dry hair that does not get fatty for a long time, we recommend washing your hair once or twice a week to eliminate external dirt (dust, cosmetics, etc.). In addition, make sure to use a delicate shampoo.
