New Wonder Plant For Weight Loss

For millions of us dieting is part of our everyday lives- if we’re not avoiding eye contact with the biscuit tin, we’re trying to steer clear of the doughnut shop! You’re not alone, we’ve all been there, and us munchers know only too well how hard it can be to find the right diet for you.
We’re always on the lookout for ways to make things easier, so we’ve taken a look into Garcinia Cambogia extract, one of the newest weight loss supplements on the market.

What is Garcinia Cambogia?

It’s actually a fruit found in most Asian countries and India. The rind from the fruit is extracted and is used in many weight loss supplements. This is due to a compound it contains called Hydroxycitric Acid that is believed to promote weight loss. The supplement gained a lot of publicity after Dr Oz, who made his name on the Oprah Winfrey show, dubbed it ‘the newest, fastest fat-buster, and one of the least expensive too’ with no extra dieting or exercise required.

Now, we’re always a little weary of products that claim to do such wonders. A healthy diet and regular exercise plan is the only way to real, sustainable weight loss so if you are thinking of taking the plant extract, it should be considered as an aid rather than a miracle maker.

4 ways Garcinia Cambogia is thought to aid weight loss:

1. Clinical studies have shown it to suppress the appetite, improve sleep quality and boost the metabolism – all important factors for losing weight.

2. Garcinia Cambogia is thought to have a dual action: it suppresses the appetite and converts fats into energy (glycogen). It blocks the formation of fat in the liver: the liver converts sugars and carbohydrates into fat and Garcinia Cambogia blocks the enzyme that converts the sugar into fat.

3. It contains an active ingredient called HCA or Hydroxycitric acid which is believed to aid weight loss.

4. Long-term use of Garcinia Cambogia has shown to lead to increased levels of serotonin – a unique benefit of the plant extract. This could be beneficial to an emotional eater who consumes more when they are feeling down and anxious.

Side effects:

Some studies have shown that Garcinia Cambogia can lead to minor headaches as well as bloating or gastrointestinal problems. The research into the plant extract, however, is still at the early stages so long-term effects are unknown.
